Wolves of the Road

The sheriff is unable to prevent a band of robbers from holding up the stagecoach and stealing the gold dust from the Golden Rod Mine. He telephones his daughter, Marta, about the robbery and gives her a description of the gang leader. A stranger in town, calling himself the Pronto Kid, answers to the description of the outlaw, and Marta attempts to arrest him; but when he tells her the sad story of his life, she lets him go. Marta soon finds the stranger holding a gun on her two brothers, and she interferes, freeing her brothers and again holding the stranger at gunpoint. The stranger again escapes, and, when the sheriff returns, he and Marta pursue him. The stranger, however, captures the outlaws and hands them over to the sheriff when he arrives. As it turns out, the stranger and the sheriff are old friends; and the astonished Marta quickly realizes that the outlaw leader is a dead ringer for the stranger. Her father then explains that the stranger is the owner of the Golden Rod Mine, while the prisoner is a desperate character, having long been wanted by the law.
