Synopsis
While watching cigarette maker Concha Perez dance at the carnival fete, young Spanish nobleman Don Mateo Diaz becomes infatuated with the girl, who agrees to go away with him. However, upon seeing Diaz offer her mother a sum of money, Concha becomes so enraged at the thought that the nobleman believed he could buy her love that she leaves for Cadiz. Six months later, Diaz discovers Concha dancing in a sailor's hall wearing the scantiest of gowns. Openly scorning him, she accepts the attentions of El Morenito; and Diaz, furious, snatches her from the stage and carries her back to Seville, where, in an attempt to test his love, Concha continues to abuse him. After she drives him to leave her, Diaz suffers a physical collapse, and Concha, perceiving his true love, goes to the nobleman and agrees to become his wife.
