Synopsis

Troubled when her sweetheart, Robert Walsham, hesitates to propose to her, Nancy Lyons, the wardrobe girl for a lavish musical production, borrows an alluring gown and "vamps" Robert so effectively that he immediately springs the question. Robert, a settlement worker, takes his bride to a Pennsylvania mining camp, where he is to assume the charge of the community house of his uncle, James Walsham's. Believing Nancy to be a bad influence on his nephew, the stern old Walsham voices his disapproval of the match, despite the good accomplished by the couple at the settlement house. One day, however, Nancy learns that a German spy named Fleming is planning to shut down the mines with the help of Phil Weil, a labor agitator. Hiding Manus Mulligan, a miner, under the bed, Nancy invites Weil to visit her, and with the aid of some whiskey and her old vampire routine, she charms Weil into revealing Fleming's treachery. Old Walsham then gratefully accepts Nancy into the family.
