Synopsis

According to the terms of Judge Joshua Cabot's will, whichever of the unidentified heirs, to whom he has left $5,000 each, uses the money to the best advantage will receive the bulk of the estate. Cabot's madcap niece, Sallie Waters, decides that her staid Aunt Martha must experience some excitement, and with their money, they set out in search of adventure. Caught in a violent storm, Sallie and her aunt take refuge in a comfortably furnished but vacant house, where they are joined soon afterwards by two soaked gentlemen named Smith Jones and John Johnson. Having read in the paper that her aunt's house was robbed, Sallie notices Smith wearing the Cabot insignia and assumes that he and John are the burglars, while Smith, in turn, begins to suspect Sallie and her aunt of the same crime. In spite of herself, Sallie falls in love with Smith, and after the rain stops, he is revealed as Cabot's long-lost son. Their suspicions allayed, Sallie and Joshua Jr. become engaged, while "John Johnson," actually lawyer John Henderson, proposes to Aunt Martha.
