Synopsis

Drunk and dissolute, Jack Leonard pays a visit to Countess Iva Ivanoff, who is renowned among the New York rich for her fortune telling skills. Attracted to the millionaire, the countess takes Jack in, puts him under her potent romantic spell and imprisons him in her home. To test his sobriety, the countess eventually allows Jack to leave, but he quickly begins to drink again, and as punishment, the countess brutally whips him. Reformed by the beating, Jack returns to Mildred, his wife, and their newborn child. Mildred, however, is suspicious of her changed husband and goes to the countess for advice on the matter. Unaware of Mildred's identity, the countess tells her to reconcile with Jack, but recants her advice when she discovers Mildred's last name. After a heated fight between the two women, Jack and Mildred reunite.

Notes

Because it was copyrighted again in 1917, this film was probably re-released in that year.
