Synopsis
Argentinean rancher Don José Casandos is the recipient of an annual "gift of hate" from his foster brother, Don Escamillo Casandos, as evidence of a long-standing grudge. His nerves frazzled as the time for the gift grows near, Don José sends his son, Don Rafael, who has just returned from his studies abroad, to spy on Don Escamillo. As a guest on Don Escamillo's ranch, Rafael falls in love with his host's younger daughter, Mariquita, while the rest of the family encourages his interest in the willing elder daughter, Mercedes. Don Escamillo discovers Rafael's identity and has him punished, but the families are finally reconciled through the efforts of Rafael and Mariquita.
