Synopsis

At the first rumblings of revolution, a Russian countess flees the country with the assistance of Jack Colton, a young American in Russia to arrange a loan from his father. On the ship to America, Countess Olga meets Vera, a young girl who is also fleeing the advancing danger of revolution to live with her father's friend, John Colton, Jack's father. En route, the ship is torpedoed and Vera dies, leaving Olga a letter to deliver to Colton. After she is rescued by a lifeboat, Olga decides to assume Vera's identity and calls upon Colton, who receives the girl as his old friend's daughter. All goes well for Olga until a secret band of revolutionaries enlist her aid by promising to help the poor left behind in Russia. Soon after, Colton discovers that Olga is not who she pretends to be, but remains silent. His confidence in Olga is rewarded when she foils the revolutionaries' scheme to kill Colton. Realizing that the band of revolutionaries are working for their own self-interest rather than that of the oppressed, Colton infiltrates the organization and exposes their leader's greed. The avaricious leader is then disposed of and Jack Colton returns from Russia. Once home, he falls in love with Olga and the two are married.
