Synopsis
While looking for an old friend, Tom and his pal, Tip, come upon a little mining settlement under the despotic rule of a Russian, Ivan Petrovitch, and save Mitza and her little brother from his cruelty. Later, they are ambushed, and when Tom is separated from the party, Mitza and her brother are recaptured. Tom and Tip follow Petrovitch into a cave; the Russian escapes, leaving a half-wit to dynamite the cave, but Tip overpowers him, and Tom arrives at the mine to lead the inmates against the guards. Tom finds a friend among the prisoners, and they overtake Petrovitch, who has escaped with Mitza.
