Synopsis

Convent reared Aline Ann Belame has never seen her grandfather General Belame. One day a letter arrives from him summoning Aline to his plantation in order to meet the husband he has chosen for her. Elated at the anticipation of having a home and a husband, Aline arrives at the plantation only to learn that her prospective fiancé Monsieur Cayetane, is a withered old man. Aline refuses the match and soon after falls in love with Burton Striker, who is installing a vault door on the General's wine cellar. Their plans for elopement discovered, Cayetane challenges Striker to a duel. In the shooting, Cayetane's bullet goes astray and breaks the General's prized pipe, motivating him to break his granddaughter's engagement. However, the General still withholds his blessings until Striker withholds the combination to the vault, at which time the General graciously concedes defeat.
