Truth About Men
Film Details
Synopsis
Dominated and restricted by a selfish mother, Elsie Hastings finds it hard to resist the attentions of handsome Jimmie Scott, a stranger in town, and she is soon sneaking out to meet him for trips to hotels in various nearby towns. About the time that Elsie discovers "her condition," Jimmie disappears. Determined to take poison, Elsie meets an elderly woman who invites Elsie to tea and gradually reveals that she is searching for her son, Jimmie Scott. Elsie's friend Sam finds a sullen Jimmie, Elsie and Jimmie marry, and Elsie lives with Mrs. Scott while Jimmie goes off to war. In the months that pass, a son is born to Elsie, and Jimmie returns. But it is not the Jimmie Scott Elsie married, and Mrs. Scott is heartbroken at the news. Elsie's husband later turns up, however (the baby died in the meantime), and demands his wife, who refuses him out of love for the other Jimmie. There is a scuffle, in which the husband wounds Jimmie, but Sam--now a state policeman--pursues and kills the husband.
