Synopsis

After Mrs. Lehr, a young widow, returns to the family estate with Jane and Katherine, her two mischievous daughters, the townspeople suffer many practical jokes at the hands of the prankster sisters. The sisters' pranks severely try the patience of Job Jenkins, the old caretaker of the Lehr estate, but the girls form a warm attachment to Manny, a slow-witted handyman who becomes their faithful servant. When Job disappears on the same day that a barn on the Lehr estate is destroyed by fire, and a skull is discovered in the charred ruins, the town constable arrests Manny for the caretaker's murder. Jane and Katherine do all they can to prove their friend's innocence, but to no avail. Manny is convicted upon circumstantial evidence and sentenced to die in the electric chair. Just before the scheduled execution, the sisters see Job out riding, and, discovering that he is ignorant of Manny's predicament, whisk him to the jail just in time to save their friend from electrocution.
