Synopsis

On a South Sea island, Harvey and his brother, Jim, operate a pearl diving barge in partnership with Stavnow. Harvey becomes fresh with Mary Hale, a stranded opera singer working in a waterfront dive, and she knocks him cold. Stavnow sees the fight and robs Harvey of his pearls. Harvey regains consciousness, and Stavnow kills him with a stone jar. Mary, who believes herself responsible, takes refuge with Jim, and they fall in love. He asks her to marry him, but she refuses. While diving, Stavnow's foot is caught in a giant clam; and before he dies, he signals to Jim that he killed Harvey. Jim and Mary are united.
