Synopsis

"Bearcat," the nickname of Turner Stacy, whose father runs a still in the Kentucky Cumberland mountains, loves Blossom Fulkerson, a missionary's daughter, who has tried many times to stop Bearcat from drinking. When Jerry Henderson, a railroad surveyor suspected of being a revenue agent, takes refuge in Blossom's house from a gang led by Kindard Powers, a saloon owner, Blossom risks her reputation by staying alone with him all night. Bearcat, who has fled to Virginia to avoid testifying against his recently arrested father, returns to find Blossom and Henderson engaged. After Henderson is wounded by Power's gang, Bearcat saves him and takes him to marry Blossom, but Henderson dies after the ceremony. Bearcat vows to kill Powers, but when Blossom's father dissuades him, he breaks up all the stills instead. When Bearcat's father is released, he kills Powers. Blossom, who had left the area, returns to teach school and accepts Bearcat's proposal.
