Synopsis

Bradberry, an absentminded student of Egyptian lore, is cowed by an ambitious wife who plans her daughter's marriage to Victor Smith, a man of wealth and social standing, while Betty actually loves Tommy Dawson. Secretly, father becomes successful as the author of a musical comedy under a nom de plume. On the day before the wedding, Bradberry is summoned by the producer of his latest play to the dress rehearsal; unused to society, he is confused and dazzled by the backstage glamour and is vamped by Gloria, a fast-stepping dancer. At her mother's insistence, Betty has a detective put on the case who poses as a waiter. Father discovers that the backer, Smith, is his daughter's fiancé and returns home in time to assert his authority by marrying Betty to Dawson.
