Synopsis
Bob Blake is a jovial, rotund traveling salesman, who falls in love quickly. While on a train trip, Bob oversleeps and misses his stop, then wakes up in Grand Cross, where he falls in love with the lovely telegraph agent, Beth Elliot, whose house will soon be sold for unpaid taxes. During a rowdy poker game with two unscrupulous real estate speculators, Franklin Royce and Martin Drury, Bob learns that they are trying to force Beth to sell her property to them, so they can resell it to the railroad for a tidy profit. The next morning, Bob races to the county seat and pays Beth's property tax in the nick of time. Royce gives chase in a stolen automobile, but it overturns. Nevertheless, Royce returns first, telling Beth that Bob had tried to steal her land and then forcing on her a five-thousand-dollar check. When Bob gets back he tears up the check, fights Royce and Drury, and clears up the misunderstanding with Beth.

Frank McIntyre, who portrayed Bob Blake on the stage as well, made his film debut in this production. The film was remade by Famous Players-Lasky in 1921, with Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle starring and Joseph Henabery directing (see AFI Catalog of Feature Films, 1921-30; F2.5831).
