Synopsis
Victor Lanning, employed by eastern capitalist Richard Stanton to buy the Shasta Lumber Co., conspires with Pete Carson to start forest fires in order to make his own profit from the sale. En route to investigate the fires that have killed his cattle, Billy Fargo rescues Stanton and his daughter, Mildred, from a train wreck. Mildred's attentions to Billy at dinner that evening enrage Lanning, who plans a fake kidnaping. The actual abductors are serious, however, and Billy rescues her (with the help of Red Feather, an Indian girl with whom Lanning has flirted) in the midst of a raging storm.
