Synopsis
Bull Turner, trusted employee of a construction company, is also the "Phantom" who has twice stolen the payroll. Jeff McCloud, a stranger, realizes that without his beard he would strongly resemble Turner; and the latter throws suspicion on him, though Jeff escapes from the sheriff. Jim Breed kills and robs Turner in an argument over their spoils; Jeff takes Turner's place and keeps a rendezvous with the gang, learning of a plan to smuggle arms over the border. Jeff is ambushed by Breed but is cared for by Babs, whose grandfather is planning to marry her to Turner; he is denounced by Breed as an imposter and attacked by Cassidy, but help arrives from the rangers, and the gang is routed.
