Synopsis

Weary of the strait-laced surroundings of her New England coast village, Celia Laird is thrilled when dashing New York artist Frazer Ordway vacations in Cliff Haven for his health. Worried by Celia's frequent meetings with Frazer, her two maiden aunts, Harriet and Rachel Farnum, insist on her immediate marriage to Obediah Daw, a wealthy though foppish man whom the aunts consider an ideal catch. Realizing that the pretty and high-spirited girl is distracting him from thoughts of his fiancée, Adriana Peroni, Frazer decides to return to New York. Halfway there, he finds Celia hiding in the back seat of his car and promptly puts her on a train for home. Determined to escape a union with Obediah, Celia secretly boards a train to New York instead, and Frazer arrives home to find her in his easy chair. When Adriana learns of Celia's presence, she breaks with Frazer, later finding happiness with his friend, Dr. Walter Grierson. Celia's aunts arrive with the police to arrest Frazer for kidnapping but learn that the happy couple is about to depart on their honeymoon.
