Synopsis

Jerry Hale, a Royal Canadian Mounted Policeman, is sent to an outpost run by a greedy woodsman named Peter Barkley and his kind-hearted niece, Helen Brent, who is living there while her father Nathan is away prospecting. Jerry and Helen are old sweethearts, and as they talk, Helen's suspicions about her uncle's dishonesty increase as she realizes that Barkley has been intercepting Jerry's letters. When Nathan rides into the territory carrying the map to his gold strike, Barkley and his gang kill him and frame Jerry. Jerry is arrested, and Helen, believing that he is guilty, visits the jail and berates him. When the Indian beads that Jerry found near Brent's body link Lobo, one of Barkley's men, with the killing, Helen has a change of heart, and she helps Jerry escape. While Helen waits alone in a cabin, Barkley arrives. They fight, and she believes that she has killed him. However, when Jerry and the Mounties arrive, the sergeant proves that it was Lobo's knife that killed Barkley. Lobo and his accomplices are arrested, Jerry is freed and Helen's dog "Rex" uncovers the hidden gold beneath the floor boards.
