Synopsis

Stenographer Jane Colby is so competent that the firm of Edward Royle and Harvey Wilson relies upon her abilities. Consequently, when Jane discovers a discrepancy in one of Wilson's accounts, Royle requests the resignation of his partner. Soon after, Royle falls prey to the wiles of socialite Edith Preston, who marries him for his money although she really is in love with Wilson. With the aid of David Pierce, Edith and Wilson conspire to ruin Royle and seize his fortune for themselves. Through their stock manipulations, Royle is about to lose his assets until Jane steps in and secures his shares with the $10,000 she has been saving to buy a house. Throughout the crisis, Edith has refused to help her husband, forbidding him to use her jewels to secure a loan, and when Royle discovers his wife's duplicity with Wilson, he renounces her and turns to Jane, telling her that she is no longer a silent partner in his life.
