Synopsis

H. E. Manners, the proprietor of a store in the small town of Felton, California, is a failure in business but beloved by all who know him. His daughter Peggy, after completing her education at a finishing school in the East, returns to find her father, whom she thinks is a profitable businessman, struggling with a grocery store that refuses to show a profit. Throwing herself into the business, Peggy soon has the store on a paying basis. Meanwhile, millionaire Roland Gardiner and his two guests, a mother and a daughter for whom the woman hopes to ensnare a wealthy husband, namely Gardiner's son Clyde, are camping on a nearby estate recently purchased by Gardiner. Clyde falls in love with Peggy, but his father disapproves of the match. After a big storm, all of Gardiner's supplies are wiped out and he is forced to buy provisions from Peggy's store. Peggy retaliates for Gardiner's scorn by charging him outrageous prices, finally winning his admiration for her spunk as well as his approval to marry Clyde.
