Synopsis

Shirley Kaye, the daughter of Edgerton Kaye, a railroad president who is fast losing his grip on his business to financier T. L. Magen and his right-hand man John Rowson, learns of her father's predicament and takes matters into her own hands. She learns from Rowson, who is falling in love with her, that Magen's daughter Daily has social aspirations. After making an ally of the girl by introducing her into the most select social circles, Shirley does the same for all the stockholders' wives, making them promise to turn all their husbands' proxies over to her. Her father then wins the proxy battle, much to the disgust of Rowson, whose love for Shirley had made him divulge Magen's tactics and thus lose the fight. Rowson leaves for his lodge in a rage but Shirley follows him and persuades him to accept the general managership of the company as well as herself.
