Synopsis

Saul, King of Israel, prepares to battle the Philistines in spite of the warnings of prophet Samuel, who predicts that Saul will lose his throne and selects David as the new king. Saul's son, Jonathan, makes friends with David and brings him to the court. When David slays Goliath, Saul, believing him to be the man in the prophesy, sends him into a trap against the Philistines. David returns victorious, and he leaves the court after Saul's attempt to kill him. He gathers men; and when the Philistines attack Saul, David conquers them. Saul and Jonathan are killed in battle; David is acclaimed king, and he weds Saul's daughter, Princess Michal.
