Angus, the elder of seafaring brothers, is captain of the Condon , while David is a crewman. Although David has a fiancée in New York, he succumbs to the temptations of Lola, a barfly, while in Buenos Aires. Angus reluctantly allows her to make the trip to New York when Lola insists that she and David are married. Bored with the drudgery of housekeeping, Lola plans to run away with a boxer named Jimmy Cardigan until Angus prevents it. Taking her and David, delirious with fever and anguish, on board, Angus returns to Buenos Aires, sets Lola adrift in a small boat, and brings David back to his fiancée.
