Synopsis
Wall Street magnate Elihu Knowland takes an interest in Mary Beresford, so he gives her lazy husband Al some stock market tips that make him a fortune. Then, realizing that his millions might attract high society women, Al insists on a separation from Mary, after which, hearing that Al's cruelty has driven Mary to suicide, Elihu decides to ruin Al financially. When Elihu's plan succeeds, Al commits suicide, and then, unexpectedly, Elihu meets Mary, who did not take her own life, but merely had left town. Soon after their reunion, Elihu proposes to Mary, and she eagerly accepts.
