Synopsis

Luther Meek, a subdued and frugal young man, is in love with a schoolteacher, Dorothy, who wants to try her luck at becoming a stage actress before saying "yes" to marriage. Luther's stepbrother, Bill, and Dorothy successfully scheme to get Luther to finance a waning musical comedy troupe in return for giving Dorothy the starring part. However, Bill and the show manager doublecross them and run off with the box office receipts, shifting the blame to Luther. The town engages in a mad chase to catch Luther while Bill and the manager make their getaway. But Luther manages to escape from his pursuers and catches the thieves. Having had her fill of stage life, Dorothy marries Luther.
