Synopsis

Although "Shark" Monroe, who owns the sealing schooner The Gull , is reputed to be a dangerous and brutal man, Marjorie Hilton and her drunken brother Webster accept his offer of free passage to the Klondike when she discovers that Webster has spent all of their money on liquor. On board, Marjorie challenges Shark after he disciplines the lazy Webster, and Shark, moved by her courage as well as her beauty, falls in love with her. Once in Skagway, Marjorie becomes involved with "Big" Baxter, who proposes to her without mentioning his white slave trade. To save Marjorie, Shark interrupts the sham wedding and marries the horrified bride himself. Later he confesses that the ceremony was illegal and returns Marjorie to her brother, who assaults him. Shark allows Webster to win the fight but kills the attacking Baxter. Marjorie then realizes Shark's worth, and together they seek out a real minister.
