Synopsis

Princess Dione rescues Katerina Vlasoff from her abusive father, unaware that the girl has had a liaison with her husband, Guido Capanelli. Dione then falls mortally ill, but, before what appears to be her death, she learns the truth of her husband's infidelity. Declared dead, while really only in a trance, she is rescued from her bier by Feodor Strogoff, her former suitor. The couple then journey to France where Guido again meets his former wife, who, under a different name, has become the belle of the capital. Failing to recognize her, he finds himself captivated by this strange woman. Demanding the emerald ring possessed by Guido's first wife as a condition of her surrender, Dione forces Guido to return home. Unknown to him, Feodor and Dione follow. Finding the vault empty, Guido is accosted by the ghostly figure of Dione, clad in her shroud. Terror stricken, he backs toward the sea cliffs and falls over the precipice to his death. Their revenge extracted, Dione and Feodor are reunited.
