Synopsis

Polly, ingenue of a show troupe that is stranded in a small town, returns to New York broke. She and Bunny obtain jobs as French maid and butler with a nouveau riche Kansas family, the Hawkers. Polly meets the neighbor, MacGillicuddy, a famous actor; and the Hawker son, Zeke, unsuccessfully attempts to attract her attentions. At a party given by Mrs. Hawker, Zeke denounces her to the guests as the maid; and when Mrs. Hawker's jewels are stolen, Polly is suspected and arrested. But Polly recognizes the Countess Carstairs and the Marquis de Void, "patrons" of the Hawkers, in the rogues' gallery. Polly and the police arrive in time to prevent the marriage of Zeke and the phony countess. The crooks are arrested, and Mac and Polly are united.
