Synopsis

Buck Sims, a riding champion, drops into Toptown to participate in the annual rodeo and meets Mary Blenning, who with her crippled father operates a merry-go-round in a small park. Pete, the town bully and Mary's suitor, informs Buck he is not wanted, and in the fight that ensues Pete is badly beaten. Buck plays a trick on his friends by speeding up the merry-go-round; then, himself riding the painted ponies, he playfully fires his gun in the air. Pete shoots Mary's father and has Buck arrested for the shooting, but Mary refuses to prosecute. At the rodeo, Buck wins the honors from Pete, who kidnaps the girl and kills Jim, his confederate. Buck grapples with Pete in a canoe and takes him prisoner as Mary swims to shore.
