Synopsis
Betsy Shelton, the daughter of a once wealthy Southern family, eeks out a living in the town of Mandeville while her brother Dick tries to find work in New York. There he encounters Roger Enderleigh, who involves Dick in his plan to swindle the people of Mandeville. When postal authorities, following Enderleigh from New York, chase him to Mandeville, he tries to flee, leaving Dick to take the blame for his own crimes. In a struggle with Dick, however, Enderleigh is killed. As a defense at his trial, Dick says that he killed Enderleigh to avenge his sister Betty's lost honor, something which she corroborates to save him. Dick is acquitted, but Calvin Stone, an attorney who is engaged to Betty, does not believe the story. Eventually Stone uncovers the truth and saves Betty's good name.
