Synopsis
The prince of a mythical Balkan kingdom, appointed to oversee his country's public relations, officiates at ship launchings, cornerstone layings, and parades. He falls in love with a tourist, but his family insists that he marry a princess from a neighboring country. The prince manages to get away temporarily from his duties and family pressure to have an Elysian episode with his sweetheart. His father dies, however, and the prince reluctantly returns to the capital for his own coronation. After he becomes king, he arranges with a friendly anarchist for a revolution to take place; the revolution is a success, and the ex-king is immediately elected the president of the new republic. Now free to marry anyone of his own choosing, he makes the tourist his first lady.
