Synopsis

Jack O'Diamonds and his partner Two Spot are known as honest gamblers in the border cow town of Oxide. Nevertheless, Preaching Dan, the minister, convinces Jack that gambling is a parasitical profession and he resolves to give up the game after one last hand. Jack's last hand is played against Colonel Ransome who, after losing his money and hacienda to the gambler, accuses him of cheating. Jack draws his gun and shoots, and the lights go out; afterwards the colonel's body is found as two Mexicans gallop away. From documents on the dead man, Jack learns that he has a daughter named Virginia. Jack determines to put the ranch in order and writes Virginia to come West. When she arrives Virginia treats Jack like a servant, and after the foreman Anastacio tells Virginia that Jack shot her father, she orders him from the ranch. After many adventures, it is revealed that Anastacio shot the colonel, and Virginia bets with Jack for possession of the ranch. He agrees on the condition that she marry him.
