Synopsis

Spuds, an American private in France, assigned to KP duty, meets his buddy, Arthur McLaughlin, a Boston banker, in a dugout. He learns that Arthur will be court-martialed unless he recovers a pay car containing $250,000 that was stolen while in his care, and that two spies in the neighborhood are believed to be the source of the trouble. In Mayonnaise, Spuds meets and falls in love with Madelon, a French waitress, but the doughboy is forced to flee for his life. By accident he discovers the whereabouts of the pay car and brings it back across a battlefield, through attacks from all sides. He arrives to save the captain from being shot and is fittingly rewarded.
