Synopsis

Albert Leroux, headwaiter at an exclusive Paris hotel, falls hopelessly in love with Elizabeth Foster, an American heiress, though he is convinced that she will never admire a waiter. He follows her to a winter resort in the Swiss Alps, where Albert is in constant fear of having his identity revealed. Upon meeting King Boris of Lucania, both admit to traveling incognito. The lovers are brought together in a toboggan spill, and intimacy soon ripens. Winter sports terminate in an ice masquerade, and in his brilliant costume Albert convinces Elizabeth that he is no ordinary mortal. As Albert leaves for Paris, Robert Foster learns of his position. When Elizabeth and Robert come to the hotel, Albert finds himself dismissed but is surprised to receive a controlling interest in the hotel and a managerial appointment from the Fosters.
