Synopsis

White Elk, a light-skinned Indian chief, incurs the enmity of Chief Black Panther when he prevents him from looting a westbound wagon train. White Elk, who is betrothed to an Indian princess, is torn from her by his love for a white girl from the East. When he is tricked into signing away the lands of his tribe, White Elk is condemned to be burned alive by Black Panther. He is saved from certain death by a cloudburst and makes his escape. He is later told that he is really a white man, who as a child was saved from death and brought up as an Indian. The white girl with whom he has fallen in love is captured by the Indians and strapped in a canoe that is set adrift above a waterfall. White Elk saves the girl, and the Indian princess takes her place in the canoe, offering herself as a sacrifice. White Elk discovers that his father is the old scout who leads the wagon train, and he and the white girl make plans to be united.
