Synopsis

Wealthy young bachelor John Graham falls in love with Molly O'Day, a musical comedy star. They meet in the elevator of his apartment house and are forced to remain in it overnight because of a mechanical failure; when it is repaired the next morning, they head for the marriage license bureau. After the wedding, Molly discovers that her contract calls for a salary cut in case of marriage, so they decide to keep the marriage secret. When Molly sails for London, John boards the ship, posing as the ship surgeon; their attempts to see each other are constantly frustrated by the chief officer, who falls for Molly, and by her roommate, Rose Lundy. John is involved in numerous complications because of his ignorance of medicine. Meanwhile, Kerrigan, the show manager, proposes to Molly, and upon being told of her contract, he tears it to bits, while John, pursued by an irate crew, falls happily into her arms.
