Synopsis

Spangles, the star bareback rider of the Bowman Circus, is engaged to the owner though she does not love him. Dick Radley, who is being sought by the police in a murder case, conceals himself in her berth on the circus train; and believing that he is innocent, Spangles helps him to evade capture. Bowman agrees to hire him as a driver in the chariot race, though his open attentions to Spangles arouse the jealousy of Bowman and the rival chariot racer, who fouls Dick in the race. Identifying Dick as the fugitive, Bowman threatens to inform on Dick unless Spangles relinquishes her plan to marry him. Later, Bowman is found dead; and though Dick is suspected, he is found to have already surrendered to the police. Dick is cleared but is attacked by the circus mob; Zip, a halfwit, reveals that the elephant Sultana killed Bowman when he abused the animal. Dick and Spangles are happily united.
