Synopsis

Bob Fleming, a city-bred youth, goes deep into the northern woods, and at the cabin of Bruce MacLean he meets and falls in love with Felice, MacLean's granddaughter, also loved by Dubois, a trapper. Dubois insults Bob, and when he refuses to fight, Felice turns to Dubois in pique. Bob removes a porcupine quill from Ranger, a wild dog, who then attacks Dubois when he tries to kill Bob. MacLean persuades Bob to investigate a mountain, reputed to hold a treasure; while climbing he falls into a pit in which he discovers a skeleton and a map showing the location of the gold. He and Ranger find the treasure but are trapped in a cave by Eagle Claw. Ranger is able to escape, and, though detained, he leads Felice to the cave and kills Eagle Claw and his dog. In a thrilling canoe chase, Dubois and his accomplice plunge to their deaths in the falls.
