Synopsis
Impulsively and in secret, Elizabeth Van Vorst marries musician Paul Hallock, who soon leaves for Europe to finish his studies. Elizabeth then begins a romance with the wealthy Julian Gerard, until a year later, when he returns, Paul demands money from his wife to keep their marriage a secret. Amanda, a new mistress, then murders Paul, but all of the evidence points to Elizabeth. Julian rushes back to the United States from abroad when he hears about the trial and tells the court that she was with him at the time of the murder. As a result, the jury returns a verdict of not guilty, after which Amanda confesses, and Elizabeth and Julian make plans for their marriage.
