Synopsis
Miriam Lee leads a life of drudgery in New York until she meets Joe Valdez, a handsome, notorious gambler whose past affairs include an elopement with the wife of Jim Calvert, a miner from the West. When Miriam's father hears of her liaison with Valdez, he drives her from home, but Valdez takes advantage of the situation by tricking her into a phony wedding ceremony. Once married, Valdez sets himself up in a high-class gambling house and uses Miriam as a lure. Nicknamed "the Queen of the Night," Miriam is sent by Valdez to swindle "Lucky" Carson, a Western gambler and a friend of Jim Calvert. Wise to her schemes, Carson plays along with Miriam for a time, then confronts Valdez in the club. Carson recognizes Valdez from the mining town and wires Jim, who comes to the city to seek his long-awaited revenge. After Jim mortally wounds Valdez, Miriam discovers the truth about her illegal marriage and accepts the genuine love of "Lucky" Carson.
