Synopsis

The daughter of Senator Newcastle is kidnapped as a baby by insane scientist Professor Silvio who wants to prove the Darwinian theory. Darwa grows up in the jungle where the only human she sees for fifteen years is Lotec, an East Indian who teaches her English. Senator Newcastle learns of his daughter's whereabouts and finances a trip to the Amazon jungle, but the night before the scheduled trip, the Senator is believed killed. Robert Hunter takes up the search and locates Darwa in the jungle cavorting among the trees. Silvio locks Darwa in a cage next to a man-eating ape, but Darwa uses her wit and escapes. Her father, who had been kidnapped and imprisoned, is released, and Robert and Darwa find happiness together.

Notes

This film marks the screen debut of Ruth Budd, a vaudeville performer. One source credits A. Fried a co-cinematographer with A. A. Caldwell. Another source lists Leander De Cordova as the scenarist, not the co-director. Some sources list the film as the five-reeler with a September 1919 release.
