Synopsis

Dora Mason--homeless, jobless, and without funds--accepts the hospitality of Jessup Barnes, a married man, when he gives her the use of his apartment for the care of her dying sister during the month he is absent. Barnes returns unexpectedly with Mrs. Barnes and her private detective "hot on his heels." Dora is named as corespondent and is forced to flee to a country retreat where she meets and falls in love with Lawson Dean, a lawyer recuperating from eyestrain. Following the death of Dora's sister, Dora and Dean marry. Dean is running for district attorney against Barnes, and his chances of winning are nearly ruined when the opposition leaders recognize Dora. Forced to establish her innocence, Dora successfully acquits herself, forces Barnes to withdraw from the campaign, and makes her husband's victory possible.
