Synopsis

Though Dan Kelly is brave enough to save tailor Morris Levin and his daughter Sarah from three thugs, he has a deadly fear of fires. After receiving his assignment as fireman, Dan disgraces himself in the eyes of his father--John Kelly, captain of Engine 95 and one of the bravest firefighters in the department. Mrs. Kelly is persuaded by con man "Satin" Sanderson to invest the money entrusted to her husband for the fireman's ball in a phony stock. John finds the money missing and blames Dan. Sarah gets her father to give Dan enough money to replace the missing funds. When a three-alarm fire breaks out, Dan sees a chance to redeem himself and rushes to the scene. He spots Sanderson in the burning building, mounts a scaling ladder, beats up the swindler, saves his father, and with Sanderson jumps to safety into a net. The Irish and Jewish families become reconciled, and Dan and Sarah are betrothed.
