Synopsis
Unable to support her ailing mother, manicurist Shirley Bryson stifles the cries of her conscience and becomes the mistress of wealthy Wilfred Templeton. After the knowledge of her daughter's transgression kills Emma Bryson, Shirley leaves Templeton and becomes a cabaret singer where she meets Harold Templeton, the son of her former lover. Love grows between them and they are soon married. They are living happily when Wilfred comes to visit and divulges Shirley's past. Scandalized, Harold bitterly reproaches Shirley, but once she explains her extenuating circumstances, Harold forgives her and banishes his father from his home and his life.
