Synopsis
In Seattle, Bill Scott, who is bound for the gold rush in Alaska, saves an orphan girl from a runaway team, and before his boat sails, he commissions John Jerome, a shady waterfront lawyer, to put the child through boarding school. Twelve years later, Bill returns a millionaire but finds that Jerome has used his capital to promote a town devoted to gambling, dancehalls, and other vices. Intent on vengeance, Bill trails Jerome to Satan Town, where he befriends a cripple and meets Salvation Sue, a beautiful girl devoted to the Salvation Army. In answering a call, Sue is accused of murdering a girl in a fight over a man and is arrested; Cherokee Charlie, Jerome's henchman, incites the crowd to a lynching, but Bill captures Jerome and proves Sue's innocence. The mob sets the town afire, and Sue, recognizing Bill by a tattoo on his hand as her childhood protector, is happily united with him.
