Synopsis

Lisetta, the daughter of a fisherman, lives with her father and brother on the island of Capri. When Serrani, an Italian who has grown wealthy in New York, visits the island, he induces Lisetta to accompany him to America. There he abandons her and she becomes a dancer in an underworld café owned by "Dago" Joe, where she meets the artist Stanford Graham, who employs her as a model. Meanwhile Lisetta's brother Domenic comes to New York to avenge his sister's dishonor. As he arrives, Graham's fiancée's father asks Serrani to use his influence with the artist to separate Graham and Lisetta, and Serrani visits the studio, where he is denounced by Lisetta and threatened by Graham. Later Domenic visits Serrani and stabs him with an ornamental dagger owned by Graham. Circumstantial evidence convicts the artist, who is about to die in the electric chair when Domenic confesses. Realizing that she is not a fit wife for Graham, Lisetta then refuses to marry him and returns to her island home.
