Synopsis

Along with the other members of the Uplift Society, Silas Gilworthy goes to study firsthand the notorious Purple Lightning Tango Parlor. The police raid the place, however, and Silas escapes with the nightclub's star attraction, Fifi Melotte. They go to Coney Island, where Fifi has a photographer take their picture. Fifi keeps the photograph, but slips a stolen necklace, given to her by Count Louis Petelier, into Silas' pocket for safekeeping. When he finds the jewels, a shocked Silas gives them to his fiancée, Adelaide Severn. Just after the jewelry goes around Adelaide's neck, however, Fifi arrives to get the gems back, and threatens to blackmail a resistant Silas with the compromising photograph. Then, the count arrives looking for the necklace, followed by Detective Rogers who is looking for the count. After the thief is arrested, the necklace is returned to its rightful owner, and Silas is restored to Adelaide's good graces.
