Synopsis

When fight manager Jack Sullivan is insulted by heavyweight champion "Punch" Mello, he vows to bring in an opponent to take away his title and goes to Virginia with his daughter, Mary, to look up Elliott Beresford, son of the former champion, Kid Roberts. Elliott's grandmother, however, tells him Elliott is a dance teacher, which Jack considers "sissified." Mary and Elliott are attracted to each other, and when he opens a dance school in New York, Mary shames him into getting a "man's job"; as a taxi driver, he gets in a jam and knocks out Jack's new protégé, then, at Mary's urging, decides to become a fighter. He is defeated in his first fight but is finally matched with the champion; when he learns from his grandmother that his father was Kid Roberts, he is inspired to win, then takes Mary in his arms.
