Synopsis

When the wife of Andrew Masters dies in childbirth, he denies the existence of God and vows that he will save his daughter, Rosemary, from a similar fate by forbidding her to marry. Eighteen years pass; Rosemary grows into beautiful young maidenhood, still deeply in love with her childhood sweetheart, Rod Yates. When Masters realizes that the love between his daughter and Rod is serious, he forbids them to meet. The lovers respect this prohibition until Rod is appointed manager of a large ranch and finds the courage to visit Rosemary. Rod is alone with the girl long enough to ask her to marry him, but they are interrupted by her father. The sight of Rosemary in Rod's arms brings on a paralytic stroke, and the old man falls senseless to the floor. Dan Masters, Andrew's worthless brother, plots with Judge Stivers to draw up a will, disinheriting Rosemary, to be presented to Andrew if he should regain consciousness before dying. When the old man finally awakens, he refuses to sign his brother's proposed will and instead makes one out leaving all his money to Rosemary; Masters dies just as he is giving Rod and Rosemary his blessing to be married.
